"Pedigree", a piece from artist Katrin Valgemäe’s Helsinki exhibition “Queens of Chaos”, masquerades as an advertisement for the “Pedigree” brand. However, this artwork delves deeper, reflecting on the absurdity of everyday life, where pets consume other “canned” pets.
Enhancing classical painting techniques with elements of pop art, kitsch, and camp, Katrin Valgemäe’s subtly grotesque pinup product series takes inspiration from the media’s exaggerated self-centeredness, revealing various layers with intriguing narratives upon closer examination.
